Bruce W. Hanson, age 78 of Park River, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Bruce Wayne Hanson was born May 25, 1937 in Fargo, ND, the son of the late Lloyd Hanson and Constance (Smith) Cormier. He attended schools in Fargo, ND and Hawley, MN. He lived in Washington as a young adult, moving back to Fargo in 1958. Bruce was united in marriage to Betty Schaible on September 28, 1959 in Moorhead, MN. He became an ironworker, working in North Dakota and surrounding states. The couple made their home in Fargo, moving with him while working on the missiles. The family moved to Edinburg in 1971 and in 2002 they moved to Park River. He also enjoyed working seasonal jobs for both Simplot and Hall’s. Bruce retired in 2001.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg and North Dakota Ironworkers Local 793. He loved hunting, fishing and was a big Vikings fan.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Betty Hanson, Park River, ND; his children: Jeffrey (Bernadette) Hanson, Park River, ND; Bradley Hanson, Park River, ND; Kristi (Rodger) Hall, Hoople, ND; Shannon Hanson, Fargo, ND: Leslie (Tom) Fagerholt, Hoople, ND; brother, Lee (Betty) Hanson, Frazee, MN; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren with two more on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Hanson; mother and step-father: Constance and Alfred Cormier; daughter, Karrie Lynn and sister, Carol Stensrud.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
