Bonnie Shannon

Bonnie Ann Shannon, age 81 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.

Bonnie Ann Greenwood was born August 11, 1942 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Eldon and Frances (Kohel) Greenwood. She grew up and attended school in Grafton. Bonnie worked as a candy striper at the Grafton Deaconess Hospital and later worked in the bakery at Wally’s Grocery store where she met her future husband, Kenneth Shannon. The couple was married February 19, 1966 at St. John’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Grafton where Bonnie worked as a cook at the Central School until retiring in 2004.

Bonnie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking, embroidery, doing puzzles and word searches. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (James) Summers, Grafton, ND; daughter-in-law, Heidi Reiter, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Derek Shannon, Grand Forks, ND; Dru Shannon, Bismarck, ND; siblings: Mary (Lawrence) Sonderson, Grafton, ND and Patrick (Marcy) Greenwood, Jamestown, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on 4/19/2017, son Ron, brother, James (Myrna) Greenwood and sister Joyce Hafner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
