Betty Ann Riske

Betty Ann Riske “Betsy”, aged 92, passed away on September 6, 2024 at the St. Vincent Care Center in Bismarck, ND. She was a beloved mother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Betty was born on January 17, 1932 in Milton, ND, to Martin and Rowena Skaro where she spent her formative years. She went on to school in Milton and Osnabrock and later married Steven Riske and had three boys. Betty had various jobs including at the Grafton State School and worked for various farmers in the Grafton area. She enjoyed working on the potato harvesters and in the potato houses, she loved her potatoes, mashed with butter and/or gravy. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

But more than anything, Betty was a kind and helpful friend to many. She loved spending time with her three boys, sharing stories, and playing cards sometimes late into the night with friends.

Betty is survived by her children, Dennis (Jayne) Riske and Wayne (Vicki) Riske, and her grandchildren, Brad Riske and Jenna Riske, Jake (Julie) Schad, Ryan (Samantha) Schad, and great grandchildren Colin Riske, Dexter Riske, Ellie Schad and Riley Schad and her sister Donna Slotto as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steven, eldest son Kenneth “Kenny”, five brothers and six sisters.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Interment will be at 3:00 P.M. on Monday at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
