Bernice G. Hall

February 7, 1920 — January 6, 2010

Bernice Thompson Hall Bernice Glenna Thompson Hall was born in Grafton, North Dakota, on February 7, 1920, and passed away in Spring Park, Minnesota, on January 6, 2010, at age 89. Bernice was born to Norwegian-Swedish parents, Joseph and Hilda (Monson) Thompson, and she had one sister, Doris Jean. Bernice attended rural Sinkler School near her farm home, graduated from high school in Park River in 1936, and attended Concordia College and Aakers Business College. Bernice was one of the partners in a potato business called Thompson Farms in Nash and later formed Thompson Family Farms. After her mother died, her father married Stella (Fjelstad) Thompson in 1962. Bernice married Jonas William (Bill) Hall on February 1, 1955 in rural Hoople. They built a home in Edinburg and lived there for their married life until Bill died in 1998. She had a passion for the land and her life's work in farming. In addition, she was an active volunteer in church and community activities and found particular joy in quietly helping people behind the scenes. Bernice and Bill had one daughter, Joann. She married Steve Swenson, and they have two daughters, Leah and Chloe. Bernice lived in a Presbyterian Homes apartment near them in Spring Park, a suburb of Minneapolis, for the past 11 years. She is survived by her daughter and her family, as well as many loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, sister and husband. Bernice enjoyed a full life and made the most of every single day, and lived for God in simple everyday ways. She will be remembered for her ability to CARE about each person as an individual without judgment, her acute BUSINESS savvy and ability to just get things done, her practical and fun-loving GENEROSITY, and her unfailing FAITH and optimism. To continue her legacy and love of giving, we have established the BERNICE HALL FAMILY FOUNDATION and tax deductable memorials are preferred to this foundation. (Send to: Bernice Hall Family Foundation, c/o Integrated Capital Group-RJFS, 206 Minnetonka Ave. S., Wayzata, MN 55391.) Through this foundation, her family will contribute to a wide range of organizations that she benefitted from and believed in during her life.
