Bernhard Setness

Bernhard G. "Ben" Setness, age 87 of Grafton died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his daughters home in Enumclaw, WA. Bernhard G. Setness was born October 14, 1920 in rural Edmore, ND the son of the late Gustav and Betsy (Johnson) Setness. His mother passed away shortly after he was born. At seven weeks he went to live with his maternal grandmother Gunhild Johnson in Edinburg, ND. He attended school in Lampton Township near Edinburg. Ben was united in marriage to Anna Bellerud on March 28, 1943 at the Mountain Lutheran Church in Adams, ND. Ben worked on his grandmother's farm and for area farmers until 1957 when they moved to Grafton. He managed the laundry at the Deaconess Hospital for ten years, and then went to the Developmental Center where he managed the laundry for 20 years, retiring in 1987. The couple moved to Enumclaw, WA in January of 2008.

He was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. Ben and Anna enjoyed traveling. They made three trips to Norway, and a cruise to Alaska, which was a gift from their daughter and son-in-law for their 60 ^th wedding anniversary. In March of 2008 they celebrated their 65 ^th wedding anniversary.
