Bernell "Bernie" O. Samdahl

Bernell O. “Bernie” Samdahl, age 64 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Bernell Oliver Samdahl was born July 3, 1954 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Oliver and Ada Lou (Granum) Samdahl. He grew up and attended school in Edinburg, ND. He moved to Fargo and attended a trade school for auto mechanics. Following his education he worked in the Fargo area doing auto mechanics, trucking and road construction. He married Tina Berg on May 21, 1982 on the Berg farm near Park River, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton, ND from 1982-1997. Bernie worked for Pro Ag and Trans Systems. In 1997 the couple moved to the Berg farm near Park River. Bernie worked as a crane operator for ICS in Grand Forks, ND until June of this year when his health forced him to retire.

Bernie enjoyed being around family and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed carpentry and was known for building swing sets for the grandchildren. He enjoyed flying model aircraft.

He is survived by his wife, Tina, Park River, ND; his children: Jeremy Samdahl, Hemmingway, SC; Amanda Mlcoch (Jared Vavrosky), Park River, ND; Max (Johanna) Samdahl, Park River, ND; Dawn Samdahl, Park River, ND: his grandchildren: Garrett Mlcoch, Ashleigh Samdahl, Katilynn Mlcoch, Blair Samdahl, Leigha Mlcoch, Gracie Mlcoch, Orianna Samdahl, and Nova Samdahl; his siblings: Vicki (Kenneth) Seim, Edinburg, ND; Wayne Samdahl (Jean Ann Ill), St. Thomas, ND; Cynthia (Frank) Janousek, Grafton, ND; Bradley Samdahl, Edinburg, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Todd and nephew, Justin.
