Bennie W. Dvorak

Bennie Dvorak, age 87 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Bennie W. Dvorak was born May 21, 1926 in Lankin, ND, the son of the late Joe and Matilda (Rose) Dvorak. He grew up and attended school in Rural Lankin. He was drafted into the US Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1952, he returned home and worked various jobs. He was united in marriage to Eugenia Novak on June 20, 1961 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Veseleyville, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton, and he worked as a technician for the Developmental Center for 27 years until retiring in 1992. He moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in June of 2008. Bennie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, the Grafton American Legion Post #41, and the Grafton V.F.W. Post #9367. He enjoyed listening to old time music and doing yard work. He was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Eugenia, Grafton, ND, brother Herman Dvorak, Grand Forks, ND, brother-in-laws: Cecil (Betty) Novak, St. Thomas, ND, Chris Novak Jr. Pisek, ND, Ernest (Helen Soderfelt) Novak, Veseleyville, ND, Donald (Janet) Novak, Veseleyville, ND, sister-in-laws: Geraldine (Warren) Konze, Grand Forks, ND, and Leona Sparks, Michigan, ND. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Frank Dvorak, George Dvorak, and Mabel Jechort. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rights will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
