Beatrice G. Johnson

Beatrice G. "Bea" Johnson, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Beatrice G. Brateng was born February 7, 1926 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Bert and Eva (Durhiem) Brateng. She attended and graduated from Grafton High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson on February 8, 1948 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Grafton. Throughout her working career she was employed at the S&L store, the Lutheran Sunset Home as Activities Director and Pederson Jewelry. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a member of the WELCA. She enjoyed china painting, lefse making and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Beatrice is survived by her husband, Kenneth, son Keith (Bonnie) Johnson all of Grafton, her grandsons; Gavin of Minneapolis, MN and Chad (Tina) of East Grand Forks, MN; great grandsons, Blaine and Brock. She is also survived by her sisters, Avis O'Leary, Columbia, SC, Phyllis (Walter) Gjersvold, Dallas, OR and brother Darrell (Ruth) Brateng, Vacaville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bill, sisters: Bernice French, Delores Johnson, Marion Ravers and brothers, Howard and Joel Brateng. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran church of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at North Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
