On November 24
th
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called Barbara W. Vollrath to be with Him at His side in Heaven. She celebrated her 100
th
birthday this past July. Barbara was born July 22, 1908 the daughter of the late Henry and Ella (Steinke) Dietrich at McArthur, ND.
On January 26, 1926 she was united in marriage to James K. Vollrath in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND. Together they farmed in Pembina area, and then moved to Nash, ND. In 1936, they purchased the farm at St. Thomas where they moved to and farmed until retiring in 1967. James Vollrath passed away on December 21, 1972.
Barbara was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Organizations as well as the church choir.
Her hobbies included gardening, flowering and china painting. She was a member of the St. Thomas China Painters Club for over 40 years. She loved to sing and play the piano. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Denise Vollrath, St. Thomas, ND; grandchildren: Amber (Jason) Meyer and Dalyn (Amy Geiger) Vollrath, both St. Thomas, ND; sisters: Ella Ganssle, Grand Forks, ND; Elaine Renideau, Redding, CA; brother Clarence, Cedarbery, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Doyle, brothers: Albert, Rudolph, Marvin, Charles, Henry, George, Johnnie, Louis and Leonard and sisters: Violet Lesher, Anna Hartje, Lillian Gibney and Clara Dietrich.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rural St. Thomas. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier or the donor's choice.
