Barbara J. Larson

Barbara J. Larson, age 84 of Grafton formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on October 17, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Barbara J. Saxberg was born February 28, 1931 in Cooperstown, ND to the late John & Bessie (Wilhelm) Saxberg. She attended country school in Griggs County and high school in Cooperstown, ND. Barbara was united in marriage to Clifford Knapp on October 12, 1947. They resided in Cooperstown, Crystal and St. Thomas, ND. She was later united in marriage to Allan Larson on August 5, 1972. They resided in St. Thomas. Allan passed away on July 16, 2010. Barbara managed the local cafe for years before becoming employed by the Grafton Developmental Center until retirement. In September of 2014 Barbara moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, ND. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting with the church ladies, playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center and her morning coffee group in Booth 4 at the local café. She is survived by her children: Dennis (Cindy) Knapp, Colorado Springs, CO; Deidre, (Dan) O'Keefe Crystal, ND; grandchildren: Scott (Laurie) O'Keefe, Fargo, ND; Joe (Jill) O'Keefe, Dilworth, MN; Lisa (Matt) Warren, Rogers, MN; Rachel (Ross) Wood, Garden Grove, CA; Shaun Knapp, Colorado Springs, CO; nine great grandchildren: Jaidyn, Brody, Atley, Mitch, Reese, Riley, Ava, Logan and Laney; brothers: John (Karol) Saxberg, Sutterling, OR; Richard (Lois) Saxberg, Cooperstown, ND; sisters: Joyce (Leonard) Atkinson, Glendive, MT; Karen (Amor) Bulick, Belleville, PA; sisters-in- law: Jeanette (Ed) Johnson, Arden Hills, MN; Darlene Larson & Liz Larson of St. Thomas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allan, brothers-in-law: Jim & Warren Larson. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 23rd at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church of St. Thomas. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at St. John's Cemetery of St. Thomas, ND.
