Barbara L. Lanigan

Barbara Lynn Lanigan, age 53 of Grafton, ND passed away suddenly on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks with her sisters at her side to help her crossover. Barbara Lynn Peterson was born December 5, 1957 to Art and Zelma Peterson of Grafton. She grew up in Grafton and graduated from the Grafton Central School in 1976. In May of 1976 she married Mike Lembcke. They moved to Minnesota where they raised three boys Chris, Curtis, and Jesse. Mike died unexpectedly in July of 1999. Barb continued to raise her boys in Paynesville. She met Jerry Lanigan and married him May 19, 2006. Jerry and Barb moved back to North Dakota. Barb worked for Friendship and the Developmental Center until bad health forced Barb to quit her job in March of 2011. Barb started to enjoy her grandchildren more, time with Jerry, and just enjoying life. Barb is survived by her husband Jerry, Grafton, ND; sons: Chris (Joyce), Mankato, MN; Curtis (Brittanie), Park River, ND; and Jesse, Grafton, ND; several grandchildren; Mom Zelma Peterson, Grafton, ND; sisters: Karen Haggerty, Grafton, ND; Cindy (Ron) Passa, Salt Lake City, UT; Debbie Hajicek, Grafton, ND; Kathy (Vern) Barta, Hillsboro, ND; Phyllis Hoverson, Sandy, UT; and Maribeth Lindenberg, Grafton, ND. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her father Art and husband Mike. Funeral services will be Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
