Austin Marcel Sabourin, age 42, of North Sioux City, SD and formerly of Grafton passed away on Friday, Dec 9, 2016. Austin was born August 7, 1974 in Grafton, North Dakota the son of Marcel and Trudy (Twedten) Sabourin. Austin grew up and attended school in Grafton. He attended Northland Community Technical College for 2 years and also attended and graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a degree in Carpentry. Austin worked a variety of jobs and learned many great skills at The Insulation Place, Polly’s Lounge, LSTC, all in Grafton. He worked several years for Vector Construction and through that employment he decided to make his home in North Sioux City. He also worked for Dean’s Foods as a Warehouse and Inventory Lead, BSNF Railroad as a Conductor until he was furloughed and recently at RJ Tide Construction as a Carpenter.
From a young age, Austin loved gadgets and working with his hands. He was a determined, handy and a dependable and hard worker at everything he tackled. He was a die-hard Green Bay Packers Fan as well as an Atlanta Braves Fan. Austin was patriotic, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing practical jokes on others, loved wearing odd t-shirts, his cats, his mom’s chocolate pie, his Guinness, and for those who had the pleasure to know him, made them laugh and smile through his antics. He was a loyal and genuine friend. Austin was truly one of a kind and will be terribly missed.
Austin was preceded in death by maternal grandparents George and Agnes Scharwark and Paul Twedten: paternal grandparents, Rene and Evelyn Sabourin; uncle Jerry Twedten and cousins Angela and Jason Shaver.
Austin is survived by his parents, Marcel and Trudy Sabourin of Grafton, sister Darcy Sabourin of Grafton, sister Tricia Campbell (Ryan) and nieces Temre and Mia of Bluffton, SC, brother Joe (Jennifer) and nieces Emery and Ava of Fargo, special friend, Heather Row (Tiffany, Matthew and Melanie) of North Sioux City, SD along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A ceremony to remember his life will be Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the spring.
