Arthur S.
Borgeson, age 91 of Adams, ND died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. Arthur S. Borgeson was born August 24, 1916 in Vernon Township of Walsh County, ND the son of the late Elmer and Netta (Nyseth) Borgeson. He attended the Ramsey Grove grade school in Vernon Township. Following his education he farmed in Vernon Township until enlisting in the United States Army on April 25, 1942. Arthur served as a medic in the U.S. First Army, First Infantry, serving in North Africa, Sicily, the Normandy Invasion and numerous European Campaigns. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. Following his discharge in September of 1945 he returned home and farmed in the Lankin area. Arthur was united in marriage to Eunice Vigen on June 11, 1946 in Adams. The couple lived and farmed in the Fairdale area retiring in 1980. Art also worked at the Cavalier Air station and the Nekoma Missile site for 17 years, retiring in 1988. The couple lived on the farm until 1998 when they moved into Adams.
Arthur was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school for 27 years. He was a member of the Qually-Dvorak American Legion Post of Adams.
He is survived by his wife Eunice of Adams, ND; seven children: Douglas (Doris) Borgeson, Blue Grass, IA; Debra Borgeson, Fargo, ND; Donald (Beverly) Borgeson, Mexico, MO; Deanne (Larry) Bauste, Detroit Lakes, MN; David (Norma) Borgeson, West Fargo, ND; Daniel (Sharon) Borgeson, Rochester, MN; Duane (Susan) Borgeson, Sartell, MN; 15 grandchildren; sister Ellen (Phil) Johnsrud, Portland, OR and brother Marvin (Pauline) Borgeson, Richland, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ernest and sisters: Esther, Margaret and Mabel.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Trinity Cemetery, rural Adams, ND. Military Rites will be provided by the Qually-Dvorak, Bosh-Ryba and Paul Farup American Legion Posts.
