Arnold W. Orsund, age 96 of Grafton, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Arnold Orsund was born October 1, 1917, to Peder and Anna Orsund. He grew up in the rural Hoople/Grafton area. He attended elementary school in rural Grafton. He was united in marriage to Alice Hove on June 23, 1942 in rural Hoople. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, serving in North Africa and Italy. They were the parents of four children. The couple made their home in rural Grafton until moving into Grafton in 1968. Alice passed away in 1997. In 1998, Arnold was married to Eleanor Lerud in Grafton, ND. Eleanor passed away in 2012. He was a former member of South Trinity Lutheran Church, Grafton V.F.W., Grafton American Legion Post and Cooties. Arnold is survived by his three children: Al (Barbara) Orsund, Newton , IA; Shirley (Richard) Van Camp, Drayton, ND; Rodney Orsund, Minto, ND; step-son, Glenn Lerud, Grafton, ND; five grandchildren: Jennifer Thompson, Tim Orsund, Chris, Kevin and Tyler Van Camp; eleven great grandchildren; siblings, Wally Orsund (Terri), Helen Schumacher, Lu Schatz, Margie Kennedy, Phyllis Eng and Ellie Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, son Richard, brothers: Alvin and Lawrence Orsund and sister, Gladys Hove. Memorial Services will be Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Grafton Assembly of God Church. Friends may call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton.
