Arnold Walter Juenke, age 79 of Crystal, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Arnold was born December 25, 1933 in Grafton, ND to Walter and Meta (Schmidt) Juenke. He grew up and attended schools in the Crystal area where he graduated from high school. He then attended NDSU for a short time before returning home to farm with his father and uncle. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1959. Following his discharge, he returned home and was united in marriage to Betty Vatnsdal on October 26, 1963 in Grafton. The couple lived and farmed west of Crystal for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Crystal United Methodist Church, a member and past commander of the Crystal American Legion Post #107, and a life member of the V.F.W. He served on the board of the Farmer's Elevator, the city council for 12 years, and the Crystal Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Betty of Crystal, ND, sister Vernadene Otto, Bremerton, WA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Duaine, and sisters Lyla Erbes and Naomi Farnham. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service on Thursday. Military rights will be provided by the Crystal American Legion Post #107 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at Crystal Memorial Cemetery.
