Ardis Best

Ellen Ardis (Olson) Best, age 87, was born February 22, 1927 to Albert and Alice (Kelley) Olson, died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Ardis was born in Larimore, ND. Her early years were spent on the family farm near McCanna, ND. The Olson family moved to Orr, ND, where Ardis attended the Orr school, graduating in 1945. Ardis was confirmed at the Elk Valley Lutheran Church near Bachelors Grove. Ardis married Emmett Best on her 18th birthday, February, 22, 1945 at Larimore, ND. The couple lived in Inkster, ND, later moving to rural Fordville, ND. Ardis co-owned and operated the Fordville Variety Store with her sister-in-law, Muriel (Nell) Dahlen. In 1998, Ardis and Emmett moved to Grafton, ND. Emmett passed away in 2003. Ardis continued to live in Grafton until the time of her death. Ardis is survived by her children: Paulette Richardson, Grafton, ND; Virginia Barta, Grand Forks, ND; Wilfred (Sandy) Best, Manvel, ND; Maurice (Jackie) Best, Grafton, ND and Dennis (Vickie) Best, Fordville, ND. Ardis is survived by her sister, Ila Loken, Dahlen, ND; and sister-in-law, Muriel (Nell) Dahlen, Fordville, ND. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son and brothers: Howard, Gordon, Gailan and Harold. In accordance with Ardis' final wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Inurnment will be at the Inkster Cemetery at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015.
