Ardell E. Hermanson, age 64 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, June 03, 2013 at his home in Grafton. Ardell E. Hermanson, son of the late Glenn and Lila (Anderson) Hermanson, was born August 15, 1948 in McVille, ND. He grew up and attended school there graduating from McVille High School. He then attended Lake Region State College in Devils Lake for a year. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1971 where he was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge he returned to McVille and worked for the Nelson County Highway Department. He was united in marriage to Donna Gutting on May 5, 1973 in Tolna, ND. The couple moved to Valley City where he attended Valley City State University where he majored in accounting. Upon completion of his education, the couple moved to Grand Forks and began working with the Holcumb and Knutson CPA firm. In 1977 the couple moved to Crookston and his daughter Carrie Jean was born in 1978. In 1982, he was transferred to Grafton and continued working for Holcumb and Knutson until they disbanded. He then began working for Farm Credit Services as a tax specialist until he started his own CPA Firm in the spring of 1998. His granddaughter Emma Jean was born May 21, 2006. He was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and the McVille American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting barn sparrows with his BB gun, watching baseball and football games, and working around the yard. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Donna, Grafton, ND, daughter Carrie Hermanson, East Grand Forks, MN, granddaughter Emma Jean, brothers: Gary (Del) Hermanson, Mesa, AZ, Dean (Cathy) Hermanson, Scottsdale, AZ, Merlyn (Corene) Hermanson, Danville, VA, mother-in-law Phyllis Gutting Olson, Northwood, ND, brother-in-laws: Dennis Gutting, Tolna, ND, Fritz (Janet) Gutting, Benton, AR, sister-in-law Charlene (Andrew) Stamness, Northwood, ND, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best bud, Harley the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law Raleigh Gutting. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Military rights will be by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard and the McVille American Legion. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Tolna, ND on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Memorials are preferred to your local emergency services.
