Ardell Eugene Almen

Ardell E. Almen, age 94 of Park River, ND passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center under the care of Altru Hospice.

Ardell Eugene Almen was born December 20, 1925 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Andrew and Emma (Hove) Almen. He attended rural school in Fertile Township and attended Grafton High School. Following his education he started farming with his father. Ardell was united in marriage to Betty Nelson on June 7, 1949 at the Federated Church in Grafton. The couple made their home on the family farm since 1957. In 2014 they moved into Grafton and in 2018 moved to Park River.

Ardell was a member of the former South Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Grafton, ND. He served as the church organist for many years. He also served on the Church Council and Cemetery Board. He served as Fertile Township Supervisor for a number of years. Ardell was blessed with the gift of music and he truly enjoyed sharing his gift with others. Ardell, along with his wife Betty created a loving home for their family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, Park River, ND; children: Jeff (Sandra), Grafton, ND; Susie (Bruce) Mitz, Minot, ND; Jim, Laguna Beach, CA; Rose (AJ) Lauer, SeaTac, WA; Mary (Dave) Goehle, Minnetonka, MN; Dean (Gwen), Park River, ND; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Mavis Almen, Grafton, ND and Carol Nelson, Meadow, SD and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lynn and sister, Avanelle.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Park River Federated Church. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Altru Hospice or the Park River Good Samartian Center.
