Anna Windingland

Anna Windingland, age 86 of Hoople, ND passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Elsie Anna Samdahl was born September 30, 1927 near Milton, ND the daughter of the late Oscar and Orcella (Williamson) Samdahl. She attended rural schools near Milton. Following her education she did housekeeping for several area families. Anna was united in marriage to Earl Troftgruben on January 22, 1947 in Edinburg, ND. The couple lived and farmed the original Troftgruben Homestead near Edinburg until his death on Sept. 23, 1987. She continued to live on the farm until her marriage to Leon Windingland on January 3, 1996 in Cavalier. The couple made their home in Hoople. Leon passed away June 11, 1997. She made her home in Hoople until her death. Anna was a member of the former Odalen Lutheran Church near Edinburg. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was active in the Ladies Aide. She was an avid quilter in both Edinburg and Hoople. Ann is survived by her children: Arlynn (Linda) Troftgruben, Edinburg, ND; Cathy Hennelly, St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren: Scott, Brian, Susan, Steve, Andrea and Heather and four great grandchildren: David Justin and Riley James Hughes, Taylor Elaine Grove and Luke Hoffman. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter, Linda Grove, brothers: Oliver and Carl Samdahl and a great grandson, Justin David Hughes. Funeral services will be Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg.
