Ann T. Fagerholt

Ann T. Fagerholt, age 97 of Hoople, N.D., passed away June 11, 2014 at her winter home in Ahwatukee, Arizona. Ann T. Rustan , the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Ambjor "Emma" (Peterson) Rustan, was born November 8th, 1916 in rural Hoople. She graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River and obtained a teaching degree from Mayville State Teacher's College. After teaching in a rural school near Hoople for several years, Ann married Elmo Fagerholt on June 28th 1944. The newlyweds moved to an army training base in Louisiana where they stayed until Elmo was deployed for purposes of invading Japan by land. Ann then returned to Hoople to teach in a rural school until Elmo's return when they resumed farming in the Hoople area. Ann was treasurer of the Hoople School for eight years, a member of the M & M Study Club, Hoople Band Boosters and First Lutheran Church. She was active in First Lutheran Ladies Aid as well as teaching Sunday school. Ann was honored to have been asked to be a co-grand marshal in the Hoople 125th celebration coming up in July. Ann is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Rick) Licandro, Tempe, Az; granddaughter Caryn Ann (Owen) Shaw, Rising City, NE; grandson Mark Licandro, Tempe, Az; great grandson, Tyson Shaw, Rising City, NE. and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmo, on January 26, 1976, infant son, John, two brothers and six sisters. Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church of Hoople. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hoople City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the ASPCA or Park River Bible Camp.
