Angela Rose Carriere

Angela Rose Johnson Carriere was born on July 21, 1963 in Grafton, ND, a cherished daughter of Mardell Fehr Johnson and the late Allen G. Johnson. With her devoted son, Nathan, and sisters, faithfully by her side, Angie slipped into the arms of our Lord, after a courageous battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, on December 5, 2025, in Bismarck, ND.

Angie moved through life with a purpose stitched into every step. A Graduate of Grafton High School (Class of 1982) and Mayville State University, where she earned her degree in Business. Angie poured her gifts into every chapter of her life. She was deeply rooted in her faith and community – an active member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, she was a devoted Cantor, Choir member and Worship Environment Coordinator. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Angie married Jerome Carriere on September 16, 1995, the family made their home in rural Grafton. Her family was the heartbeat of her world. Angie was devoted to her large, loving family – her brothers and sisters who shaped her earliest memories and walked beside her through every season. She helped them, supported them and cherished the moments spent together. Her home became the gathering place whenever anyone came back to Grafton. A warm, familiar hub where laughter and stories filled the rooms and yard, even with tents and campers.

Music lived inside her like a second heartbeat. She carried songs the way others carry stories, and she shared it the way she shared everything – freely, joyfully and with so much grace.

Her garden was her sanctuary. In rows of green and gold, she coaxed life from the soil, gifting her harvest to friends, neighbors and family. Fresh from the earth, preserved with care or prepared with loving hands – if Angie grew it, you knew it came from both soil and soul. She loved her flowers too.

Her life was a melody of generosity, devotion, and quiet strength. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered by her son, her family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.

Angela is survived by son Nathaniel, Grafton, ND; mother Mardell Johnson, Grafton, ND; Siblings: Greg (Marla) Johnson, West Fargo, ND, Roger (Kathy) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Joel (Rebecca) Johnson, Burnsville, MN, Joan (Pat) Reis, Bismarck, ND, Patty (Tyler) Rae, Red Lodge, MT, Diane (Rian) Lee, Argusville, ND, Cyril Johnson, Grafton, ND, Christine Fisher (Allan), Loretto, MN, Daniel Johnson, Red Lodge, MT: brother and sisters-in-law; Carol (Rob) Larson, Red Lake Falls, MN, Jim Carriere, Grygla, MN, John Carriere, Pelican Rapids, MN, Vincent Carriere, Red Lake Falls, MN, Rose (Dan) Noyes, Bristol, SD, Martha (Jim) Newquist, Crookston, MN. As well as many adoring nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, loving Aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Carriere: her father, Allen Johnson, maternal and paternal grandparents Allan and Apollon Fehr, Frederick and Lillian Johnson; niece Patricia Herbst, parent-in-laws Arthur and Mary Anna Carriere, brother-in-law, Steven Carriere, and sister-in-law Monica Carriere.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery of Grafton, ND in the Spring.
