Andrew O. Stevens

Andrew O. "Andy" Stevens, age 91 of Moorhead, MN and formerly of Park River, ND was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit of Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Andrew O. Stevens was born March 26, 1919 near Lawton, ND the son of the late Andrew and Nellie (Kittelson) Stevens. He grew up and attended school there. Following his education he farmed near Edmore with his family. He was united in marriage to Alice C. Olson on November 2, 1940 in Grafton, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Edmore, Fordville and Hoople until retiring in 1973 and moving to Park River. In July of 2006 the couple moved to Moorhead, MN. During his lifetime Andrew loved to till, plant and harvest the land God entrusted to him during his time on earth. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping with the Fall harvest for Rinde Farms of Hoople, ND, and Dwight and Susan Johnson of Park River, ND. Andrew was blessed with musical talent and could play many musical instruments by ear. His favorites were the harmonica, piano and guitar. Andrew was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River. He is survived by his children: James (Linda) Stevens, Sun City, CA; Janice (Samuel) Bradford, Moorhead, MN; Carol (Tracy) Dietrich, West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren; his sister, Anna Grayce Melland, Edmore, ND; and brother, Glen (Shirley) Stevens, Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice on August 28, 2009, his parents, an infant daughter; his sister Dolores Nyberg and grandson Eddy Stevens. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 5th at 2:00 PM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
