Amy Fedje

Amy M. Fedje, age 98 of Hoople, ND passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital of Cavalier, ND.

Amy M. Torkelson was born November 27, 1917 on the family farm in Marshall County, MN, the daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Rood) Torkelson. She attended rural school there and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1935. Amy attended the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Grafton, ND, graduating in 1939. Amy worked as a Registered Nurse at the Grafton Hospital and Lutheran Sunset Home. She was united in marriage to Joel M. Fedje on February 19, 1950 at First Lutheran Church of Karlstad, MN. The couple lived in Grafton, ND where their son Andy was born. They later moved to Crystal, ND and lived there for two years before moving to Hoople in 1955. Their other sons, Dick and Bob were born in Hoople. The couple made their home in Hoople until moving into the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home. Joel passed away on December 1, 2008.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and ALCW of Hoople where she served as Secretary for several years. She was a member of the Study Club, Garden Club, and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Andrew Fedje, Hoople, ND, Richard (Janet) Fedje, Hoople, ND, and Robert (Robin) Fedje, Colstrip, MT, 8 grandchildren: Jacob, Arika, Brianne, Landon, Samuel, Molly, Kali and Tiffany, 2 great grandchildren, siblings: Oliver Torkelson and Volborg Torkelson, both of Karlstad, MN, Marie Braaten, Fargo, ND, Louise Becker, Warren, MN, brother-in-law Carl Erickson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Alfred, brother Norval (Mildred) Torkelson, sisters: Thelma (Omer) Thompson, and Clarice Erickson, and brother-in-law Kenneth Braaten.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery.
