Amelia A. Hefta, age 97 of Forest River, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Amelia A. Briski was born October 22, 1911 in Ardoch Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Ignaz and Lillian (Czapiewski) Briski. She attended rural schools in Ardoch Township. Following her education she lived and worked in Grand Forks. Amelia was united in marriage to Harry Hefta on October 8, 1947 in Warsaw, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Forest River. Harry passed away on Jan. 9, 1995 and Amelia moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in February of 2005.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Amelia is survived by her children: Harry Hefta; Forest River, ND; Anna (Roger) DeVries, Battle Mountain, NV; and Leona Bisson, Lake Park, MN; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Helen Lunski; Grand Forks, ND and sisters-in-law Susan Briske and Florence Briske both of Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, an infant great great granddaughter and sisters: Cecilia, Steffie, Mary, Sarah and Eleanor and brothers: Walter, Joe and Steve, four infant twins, two sisters at a young age and nine nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Minto.
