Alvin Miskavige

Alvin Miskavige, age 88 of Minto, ND passed away on Sunday April 18, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Alvin Miskavige was born February 18, 1922 in Drayton, ND the son of the late Isadore and Pauline (Jagielski) Miskavige. As a small child he moved with his family to Minto, ND where he grew up and attended school. As a child he enjoyed playing baseball, hunting and fishing. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II where he served in Europe with the 101st Airborne Division. He received accommodations and medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war he returned to Minto where he worked for the Great Northern Railroad. He spent his remaining years in Minto with his brother Casmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising mink, gardening and spending time with his dogs. Alvin is survived by his sisters: Isabelle Webster, Minneapolis, MN and Natalie Wood, Chilquin, OR; brother Casmer and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Stella Matcha and brothers: Isadore and Ted. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post #201. Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
