Allyn O. Fagerholt

Allyn O. Fagerholt, age 83 of Fargo, ND and formerly of Hoople, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Rosewood on Broadway.

Allyn O. Fagerholt was born May 6, 1934 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Clarence and Amanda (Johnson) Fagerholt. He grew up and attended school in Hoople, ND. He attended Mayville State Teachers College for two years. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 serving in Korea. Following his discharge he returned to Mayville State and completed his education. Allyn was united in marriage to Carilynn A. Gunstenson on June 9, 1957 in Hoople, ND. He taught school in Northwood, ND. In late 1959 he returned to Hoople and started farming. Elmo Fagerholt was instrumental in guiding him as he started his career. Allyn farmed in the Hoople area for 43 years. Carilynn passed away in 1999. He married Marian Halgrimson on May 20, 2000. The couple made their home in Hoople until 2003 when they moved to Fargo.

Allyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hoople, ND and First Lutheran Church of Fargo. He was a member of the Hoople American Legion and Detroit Lakes Country Club. Allyn was instrumental in getting the Hoople Swimming Pool started. He served on the Board of Directors at Bremer Bank and served as president of the Hoople School Board. While Allyn attended Mayville State he played for the Mayville Redcaps Baseball team and the Mayville Comets basketball team. In 1998 he was inducted into the Mayville State Athletic Hall of Fame.

Allyn is survived by his wife, Marian of Fargo, ND; his daughter, Kari (Darrel) Pastorek, Hoople, ND; daughter-in-law, Wendi Fagerholt, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Natosha, Shantel, Mariah, Gracie, Carter, Chace, Elli, Kaylee and Lukas; step-children: Kristin Halgrimson, Fargo, ND; Steve Halgrimson, Flagstaff, AZ; Marty (Angie) Halgrimson, Moorhead, MN; Kathryn (Dave) Hanson, Fargo, ND; his sister, Janice Malmin, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carilynn and sons: Jon and David.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM at First Lutheran Church of Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 PM at the church. Interment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Hoople American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Hoople Swimming Pool, Hoople Cemetery Fund or the Hoople First Lutheran Youth Group.
