Allan W. Larson, age 81 of St. Thomas, ND passed away July 16, 2010 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Allan Larson was born June 29, 1929 to the late Andrew and Alda (Haug) Larson. He was raised and attended school in the St. Thomas area and attended Mayville State College. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. After his discharge he returned to St. Thomas and continued to farm. Allan was united in marriage to Barbara Knapp on August 5, 1972 in St. Thomas, ND. Allan then worked at the Grafton State School for 17 years, until his retirement. In May 2010, after a short battle with cancer, Allan moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home. Allan was a lifetime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, a member of the Ottum-Ball American Legion Post #168 and a former member of the VFW. Allan is survived by his wife Barbara, St. Thomas, ND; step-children: Deidre (Dan) O'Keefe, Crystal, ND; Dennis (Cindy) Knapp, Colorado Springs, CO; siblings: Warren (Liz) Larson, St. Thomas, ND; Jeanette (Dr. Edward) Johnson, Arden Hills, MN; sister-in-law Darlene Larson, St. Thomas, ND; nephews: Paul (Deanna) Larson, Gary (Marilyn) Larson, David (Angie) Larson and Marcus Johnson; nieces: Pam (Doug) Droske, Jan & Karin Johnson, Kristen (Andrew) Gamson; five step-grandchildren: Scott (Laurie) O'Keefe, Joe (Jill) O'Keefe, Lisa (Matt) Warren, Rachel (Ross) Wood and Shaun Knapp; four step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime dachshund pal Lacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Larson and great nephew Kristopher Larson. Memorial Services will be Friday July 23, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John's Lutheran Church of St. Thomas, ND. Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, St. Thomas. Military Rites will be provided by the Ottum-Ball American Legion Post #168.
