Alice C. Setnes

Alice C. Setnes, age 89 of Park River, ND and formerly of Adams, ND passed on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River, ND where she had lived since November 15, 2002. Alice Constance Bjerke was born March 31, 1921, the youngest child of Olaf and Olivia (Olson) Bjerke in Tiber Township, Walsh County, ND. She grew up on a farm north of Adams, ND in Silvesta Township. Alice was married to Raymond Setnes at Odalen Lutheran Church in Tiber Township on July 21, 1946. They farmed near Adams raising small grains and dairy cattle. They had six children. They moved from their farm into Adams in 1993. Raymond died April 6, 2006. Alice is survived by her children: Rodney (Janet) Setnes, Phoenix, AZ; Dale Setnes, Devils Lake, ND; Keith Setnes, Kapolei, HI; Donald Setnes, Jamestown, ND; Betty (Dean) Petska, Devils Lake, ND; son-in-law: William Van Treeck, Littleton, CO; grandchildren: Lindsey (Dean) Gillespie; Park River, ND; Jeremy Petska, Fargo, ND; Devin, Briana and Katherine Van Treeck, Littleton, CO; great grandchildren: Cheyenne, Clover, and Cutter Gillespie; sisters -in-law: Merna Bjerke, Vivian Setness and Marie Setnes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lorraine Van Treeck, brothers: Otto, Carl, Herman, Joseph, Magnus and Knute, sisters: Anna Sundvor, Amanda Bjerke, Stella Rustan and sister-in-law: Agnes Bjerke. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain Lutheran Church in Adams, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Park River, ND.
