Albert H. Hanson, age 90, of Grafton, North Dakota died Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton, ND.
Albert Herman Hanson was born at home in Grygla, MN, May 20, 1918 to the late John and Gertie (Haugland) Hanson. Albert was baptized, confirmed and attended school in Grygla. He entered the United States Army on February 17, 1941, trained under the 6
th
Division Co. D, 20
th
Infantry and served in the South Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was united in marriage to Lorene Dahl in Argyle, MN on June 25, 1947.
He was employed by the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads retiring in 1983. He and his wife Lorene resided in Auburn, ND for 57 years before moving to Grafton in 2004.
He was a chartered life member of the VFW, a life member of the American Legion and a life member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Ways. He loved the outdoors, nature camping at the lake, fixing old clocks, tinkering with motors, wood craft and making toys.
Albert is survived by his children Jack Hanson of Bismarck, ND; LaVonne (Jon) Hanson-Heilner of Mesa, AZ; and Brad (Dee) Hanson of Forth Worth, TX; three sisters Betty (Joe) Robinson of St. Thomas, ND; Delores (Edward) Moe of Grygla, MN; and Ruth Kasowski of Cle Elum, WA; and one brother Norman Hanson of Brookings, SD.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorene, brothers Gilbert, Johnny, Harold, Leland, Turnell, Arthur, and Kenneth; sisters Mildred Green and Edna Moe and great grandson Ryan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Landstad Cemetery of Auburn, ND.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
