Agnes J Bolek

Agnes J. Bolek, age 85 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Agnes J. Gourde was born April 6, 1926 in Oakwood, ND the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Alphonsina (Campbell) Gourde. She graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. Agnes was united in marriage to Henry Bolek on November 18, 1947 in Oakwood. The couple made their home in Grafton where Agnes worked at Norge Cleaners and the S&L Store. The couple owned and operated the City Shoe Shop until retiring in the early 1980's. The couple spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona. Henry passed away on October 25, 1992. Agnes was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and served as president of the Altar Society in 1976. She was a member of Catholic Daughter's of America, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Our Lady's Rosary Makers, Hobby Club, the Foxy Four Square Dance Club and volunteered at the Lutheran Sunset Home. She loved spending time with her grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchild. She enjoyed doing genealogy, crafting, painting and making rosaries. She is survived by her children: Rosemary (Gary) Fisher, Grafton, ND; Dorothy (Terry) Elston, Grand Forks, ND; Alan (Eileen) Bolek, Grafton, ND; Suzanne Schrum, Grafton, ND; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and two sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
