Ada Lou Samdahl, age 82 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Sanford Health Palliative Care unit of Fargo, ND. Ada Lou Granum was born October 19, 1929 in Fairdale, ND the daughter of the late Gilbert and Inga (Skare) Granum. She attended the Dewey Township School near Fairdale. Following her education, Ada Lou worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for families in the Fairdale area. She also helped in the cook car for threshing crews. Ada Lou was united in marriage to Oliver Samdahl on November 16, 1947 in Fairdale. The couple made their home in Edinburg, ND where she worked for the Windingland Potato Company for many years. The couple also owned and operated the Econo-Wash in Edinburg. She later worked as a C.N.A. for the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, retiring in 1996. After retiring, she helped in the kitchen at the Edinburg School. Oliver passed away on March 26, 1998 and she moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in the spring of 2006. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA, and the Edinburg American Legion Auxiliary. When her family was growing up she served as a 4-H leader, a scout master and was active in the Edinburg PTA. Ada Lou will be lovingly missed by her children and grandchildren: Vicki (Kenneth) Seim, Edinburg, ND; Wayne Samdahl (Jean Ann Ill), St. Thomas, ND; Bernie (Tina) Samdahl, Park River, ND; Cynthia (Frank) Janousek, Grafton, ND; Bradley Samdahl, Edinburg, ND; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and brothers: Duane (Linda) Severson, Grafton, ND and Roger Severson, Lisbon, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Goodwin Severson, son Todd Samdahl, grandson Justin Samdahl, brothers: Adrian and Arnold Granum and Gerald Severson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and Wednesday for one hour prior to the service, all at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Edinburg, ND.
