Emily Denise Bushta

Emily D. Bushta, age 37 of Grafton passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at her home in Grafton. Emily Denise Spicer was born November 10, 1975 in Lakewood, NJ, the daughter of Douglas and Kathryn (Jacobson) Spicer. She graduated high school in Bangor, ME and then joined the United States Air Force. She was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and served an extended long tour between Okinawa and Yokota, Japan. She then moved to Abilene, TX and was stationed there. Emily was united in marriage to Shane Bushta on November 2, 2002 in Abilene, TX. The couple made their home in Abilene for three years before moving to the Grand Forks Air Force Base. They lived on base for three months and then purchased a home near Grafton. In October 2012, Emily was medically retired from the U.S. Air Force. The couple continued to make their home near Grafton until the time of her death. She was a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion Post 157. Emily is survived by her husband, Shane, Grafton, ND; children: Brittney Nichole and Matthew Richard Bushta, Grafton, ND; parents, Douglas and Kathryn Spicer, Bangor, ME; sister, Sarah (James) Lolar, Maine; and her beloved six cats. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 P.M. with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Military Rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
