Irene R. Solseng, age 79 of Park River, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.

Irene R. Skytland was born June 10, 1937 in Fairdale, ND, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida (Gilbertson) Skytland. She attended and graduated Fairdale High School. After her graduation she started working for Polar Communications. Irene was united in marriage to Lewis Solseng on June 30, 1962 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Fairdale. The couple made their home in Park River. She worked as a bookkeeper for KAP Inc. and retired from Harvest States.

She was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and WELCA. She served on the Park River Park Board for many years and volunteered at the church. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by her husband, Lewis Solseng, Park River, ND; children: Tim (Lois) Solseng, Park River, ND; Julie (Kory) Bossert, Hot Springs, SD; Ryan (Angie) Solseng, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Cole (Larisa), Connor, Casey, Jameson, Ella, Jake, Lauren and Will; great granddaughter, Gracelyn; sister, Glora Halliday, Grafton, ND; brother, Marvin (Evelyn) Skytland, Carrington, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Clarice Aune and brothers-in-law, Chuck Halliday, Cecil “Bud” French and Walter Aune.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
