Myrtle Hogfoss Myrtle Hogfoss

Myrtle D. Hogfoss, age 95 of Grafton, ND and formerly of Fairdale passed away on Wednesday, June 04, 2008 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Myrtle Denora Ramberg was born June 15, 1912 in rural Edmore, ND to Carl and Clara (Viger) Ramberg. She attended school in Newland Township. She married Norman Hogfoss on October 14, 1934 on the family farm near Edmore. The couple farmed near Fairdale until 1968 when they moved to Grafton, ND. Myrtle was employed at the Grafton Developmental Center for 14 years, retiring in 1982. Norman passed away on May 16, 1986.

In Fairdale, Myrtle was active in St. Olaf Lutheran Church and later at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. She held offices in the Ladies Aid, L.D.R. and was secretary of St. Olaf congregation. Myrtle also held offices with the Fairdale Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church, WELCA and Circle, Grafton Norwegian Choir and the Grafton Kitchen Band. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Edmore, ND and the Fairdale American Legion Auxiliary.  Myrtle enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and she made hand-stitched quilts for her family members. She exhibited canning at the Walsh County Fair and was a sweepstakes winner.

Grateful for having shared in her life are five sons: Curtis Hogfoss, Riverside, CA; Raymond (Mary) Hogfoss, Fresno, CA; Roger (JoAnne) Hogfoss, Eugene, OR; Norman (Cheryl) Hogfoss, Fairdale, ND; and Allan (Alice) Skavhaug, Hoople, ND; two daughters: Marlyce (Eugene) Kemmet, Wahpeton, ND; and Renae (Monte) Hanson, Fargo, ND; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold (Lola) Ramberg, Mesa, AZ; one sister-in-law, Annie Ramberg, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Thelma and Delina and three brothers: George, Ernest and Oscar.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Fairdale, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Fairdale, ND.
