Louis Papenfuss Louis Papenfuss, age 80 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.  Louis Papenfuss was born February 3, 1928 in Glasston, ND the son of the late Erwin and Celia (Sellheim) Papenfuss. He grew up and attended school in Hamilton, ND. He joined the United States Navy in October of 1945 and served until February of 1949. He was united in marriage to June Gaffney in October of 1945. The couple lived in San Diego while he was in the Navy. Upon his discharge the couple moved to Cavalier, ND where he worked for Herb and George Morden. In 1957 the couple moved to Park River where he owned and operated the Mobil Station until 1960. He then owned and operated the Standard station from 1960-63, from 1963-1969 he owned and operated the Mobil Bulk Oil Company. June passed away in November of 1962. In December of 1964 he married Lorraine Lansing in Grafton, ND. She passed away in July of 1990.  In April of 1969 he entered into partnership with John Kelley to form KAP, INC. until May of 1985. Louis then worked for Torkelson Brothers for 18 years. He moved to the Good Samaritan Center in June of 2007. He was a member of the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147, the Park River Volunteer Fire Department and Park River Volunteer Ambulance. He was also a member of the Grafton VFW Post #9367. Louis loved his family, dancing, car racing and keeping in touch with his friends. He is survived by his daughters: LuJune (Darrell) Bjornson, St. Thomas, ND; Jennifer LaFrenz, Persall, TX; sons: Keith (Judy) Papenfuss, Park River, ND; Kevin (Kay) Papenfuss, St. Thomas, ND; Lee (Ruth) Elznic, Park River, ND; David (Kristi) Lansing, Warren, MN; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Geraldine Elznic, Fargo, ND; brothers: Clemeth (Eileen) Papenfuss, Fridley, MN; Earl Papenfuss, Cavalier, ND; Dennes Papenfuss, Cavalier, ND; sister Nira Fredrickson, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, son Timothy, step-son Don Elznic and sister Norma Thorlackson. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:30 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND. Guest Book
