Allen Lerud Allen K. Lerud, age 86 of Osnabrock, ND and formerly of Union, ND passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock, ND. Allen K. Lerud was born May 5, 1921 in Hoople, ND the son of the late Clarence and Ida (Gjevre) Lerud. He grew up and attended school there. He served in the United States Army from Dec. of 1942 to Oct. of 1944. Following his discharge he worked in the Hoople/Edinburg area. Allen was united in marriage to Harriet Thorson on September 4, 1949 in Hampden, ND. The couple lived in Devils Lake and Rock Lake, ND before moving to Union ND where they farmed until retiring in the mid-1980’s. The couple moved to Cavalier in 1997 and in December of 2006 they moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock, ND. Harriet died July 18, 2007. Allen was a member of the former Zion Lutheran Church of Union, ND and the Hampden American Legion Post. He is survived by his children: Linda (Wayne) Olson, Faith, SD and Ron Lerud, Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren: Chris (Monica) Olson, Tom (Beth) Olson, Philip (Emily) Olson, Sherri Olson and Robert Petrick; six great grandchildren; Isak, Kelvin, Kiana, Josiah and Katrina Olson and Macaela Petrick; brothers: Clifford (Margaret) Lerud, Union, ND; William (Kathy) Lerud, Kasota, MN; Richard (Edna) Lerud, Bothell, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Carl Randulson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday for two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Union, ND.  Military rites will be provided by the Edinburg American Legion Post #156.
