Dennis J. Kosmatka

October 23, 1948 - January 17, 2010

Dennis J. Kosmatka, age 61 of Park River and formerly of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Dennis J. Kosmatka was born October 23, 1948 in Drayton, ND the son of the late Richard and Domicella (Shoults) Kosmatka. He attended rural school and graduated from Grafton High School. He graduated from the University Of North Dakota in 1970. Following his education he returned to Warsaw and started farming with his father. Dennis retired from farming in 1993 and moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River in January of 2007.

He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw. He was a member of the PNA, he served on the board of the Minto Cenex, served on the Pulaski Township Board, and served on the Minto Elevator Board. Dennis loved to play horseshoes and arranged many horseshoe and dart tournaments in the area. He was an avid pinochle and poker player, playing pinochle just about every day.

Dennis is survived by his sister Rita Kosmatka, Kent, WA; his aunt Cindy Goa, San Lorenzo, CA; uncles: Ernie (Keta) Shoults, Mesa, AZ and Fabian (Elsie) Shoults, Rogers, MN; goddaughter Lisa Belflower, Rogers, MN. Many cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.
