George J. Pic

George J. Pic, age 76 of Lawton, ND passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at his home near Lawton. George J. Pic was born January 9, 1933 in Sauter Township of Walsh County, ND the son of the late Joseph H. and Mary (Pesek) Pic. He grew up and attended school there. George was united in marriage to Angeline Miller on January 18, 1955 in Brocket, ND. The couple made their home in Park River for five years where he farmed and worked in the potato warehouses in the winter months. In 1960 the couple moved to a farm in Shepherd township and they have resided here since. George ran a repair shop as well as faming in the early years. In 1968 he started custom combining along with his farming operation.

George was a true farmer at heart. He loved tractors and especially enjoyed buying and selling tractors. He enjoyed a good auction sale and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge-Kosobud Hall.

George is survived by his wife Angeline, ten children: Glenn of Florida, Duane (Marlys), Park River, ND; David (Debbie), Grand Forks, ND; Bill (Vicki), Lankin, ND; Diane (Larry) Kalash, Grand Forks, ND; Cindy (Danny) Odden, Maddock, ND; Mary (Steve) Hall, Watertown, SD; Gary (Renae); Lawton, ND; Joyce Holcomb, Park River, ND; Roger, Warner, SD; 25 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and siblings: Margaret Houser, Park River, ND and Laddie Pic, Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Alice Kubat, Gloria, Rose and Georgia Pic.

A family service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Kosobud Cemetery near Lankin, ND.
