Philip J. Palmer, age 82 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home in Grafton. Philip J. Palmer was born June 16, 1931 in Strasburg, ND, the son of the late Philip and Anna (Koch) Palmer. He grew up and attended school in Aberdeen, SD and graduated from high school there in 1949. Following his education, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in 1971. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, CA and later for Home Depot. He was united in marriage to Janice Hildebrandt on June 16, 1973 in Las Vegas, NV. The couple moved to Grafton in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife Janice, Grafton, ND, children: Jeannette Corrado, Fargo, ND, Jennifer Palmer (Phillip Reuter), Torrance, CA, Cindy (Mark) Kerr, Edward John Palmer, and David Dean Palmer, all of Lawndale, CA, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, siblings: Fran Johnson, Mesa, AZ, Jean Ann Kukkola, Phoenix, AZ, Frank (Jan) Vetsch, Milaca, MN, Laddy (Linda) Vetsch, Aberdeen, SD, Deland (Diane) Vetsch, Powhaton, VA, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Donna, Wayne, Lila, and grandson Carl. Memorial services will be Monday, August 19, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Military rights will be provided by the Lankin American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
