Alice Lorraine Lessard, age 87, died on June 10, 2014, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Alice was born in Grafton, ND to Bernadette (Baillargeon) and Philemon Sevigny on November 14, 1926. She attended school in St. Thomas and graduated from Grafton Central. Alice worked as a cashier at JC Penney for four years after high school. She was united in marriage on June 8, 1948 to Daniel J. Lessard at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Grafton. Daniel and Alice were married 60 years and raised seven children. In September of 2012, she moved to Fargo to be closer to some of her children. Alice enjoyed singing in the church choir and did so since the fourth grade. She served as a church cantor, served on the American Legion Auxiliary, Unity Hospital Auxiliary and St. John's Altar Society (Past President). Alice's hobbies during her time as a housewife and after retirement included sewing, ceramics, paper tolling, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed embroidering dishtowels for friends, relatives and fund raising. Alice is survived by her children; Barbara (Greg) Hauschild, Moorhead, MN; Thomas (Penny) Lessard, West Fargo, ND; Lon (Sandra) Lessard, Grafton, ND; Mary Beth (Thomas) Arnzen, Hutchinson, MN; Julie (Rodney) Flaten, Mayville, ND; David (Jane) Lessard, West Fargo, ND and Mark (Sharon) Lessard, Larned, KS; 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one sister, Isabel Hamilton, Seal Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and three brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 pm with a prayer service at 3:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
