Marlys Y. Carlson

Marlys Y. Carlson, age 81 of Cleveland Township, Walsh County, ND passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Marlys Y. Corah was born August 22, 1936 near Dahlen, ND the daughter of the late Emil and Eilene (Rustebakke) Corah. She attended schools near Lankin and graduated from Lankin High School. Following her education, Marlys was united in marriage to Dennis Carlson on October 24, 1954 at the Lankin Lutheran Church. The couple lived and farmed in Cleveland Township until his death on Sept. 16, 2014. Marlys continued to make her home on the farm.

She was a member of the Quale Lutheran Church and WELCA and the Bosh-Ryba American Legion Auxiliary. Marlys held several offices in both organizations. She was active in a bowling league and was able to bowl in a National Tournament. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marlys is survived by her children: Craig (Janice) Carlson, San Diego, CA; Christine (Jeffrey) Ferguson, Grafton, ND and Rick (Jennifer) Carlson, Fordville, ND; her seven grandchildren: Samantha (Mark) Huso, Holly (Travis) Stegman, Nicholas Carlson, Whitney Carlson, Kirsten Ferguson, Landon Wood and Bryce Wood, her five great grandchildren: Nevaeh Huso, Taven Huso, Drake Stegman, Griffin Huso, LaVelle Stegman, her sister, Karen Peterson, Park River, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son and her sister, Janice Kosobud.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Quale Lutheran Church, rural Fordville, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and again on Saturday for one hour prior to the service all at Quale Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
