Ronald J Novak

Ronald J. Novak, age 81 of Park River, ND, formerly of Lankin, ND, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.

Ronald J. Novak was born March 6, 1936 on the family farm in Medford Township, Walsh County, ND. He attended Medford District 84 near Lankin and attended Lankin High School. Ron enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard in 1958 and served until 1964. He married Sandy Rose on June 3, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin. The couple lived and farmed in Medford Township until retiring in 2016 and moving to Park River.

He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin, the Bosh-Ryba American Legion Post of Lankin, he served on the Fordville School Board, the Walsh County Fair Board, the Lankin Rural Fire Department and the Medford Township Board. He served as a 4-H leader for several years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sandy of Park River, ND; his sons: Curtis Novak, Park River, ND; and Terry (Yolanda) Novak, Fordville, ND; seven grandchildren: Brittany Novak (Nathan Jallo), Breanna (Nathan) Brintnell, Brooke Novak (Cody Smith), Blaine Novak, Brogan Novak (Zach Tronson), Bethany Novak and Bryce Novak; two great grandchildren: Levi and Lauren Brintnell and a third great grandchild due in July. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Victor, Herman and Edward and sister, Veronica.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin, in the spring. Military Rites will be provided by the Bosh-Ryba American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
