John J. Glanner, age 87 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND.
John J. Glanner was born January 6, 1931 in Minto, ND the son of the late John J. and Blanche (Klava) Glanner Sr. He attended schools in the Warsaw and Minto area. John enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and served in Guam and the Philippines. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sgt. He returned to Grafton and started working for Broduer Construction. John was united in marriage to Glenda Hoenke on September 10 1976 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home here. He retired from Broduer’s in 1993. John moved to the Veterans Home in Lisbon in February of 2018.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Grafton and the Grafton American Legion and Grafton VFW posts.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, Grafton, ND; children: Jeremy (Laura) Glanner, Grafton, ND and Jennie Langaas, Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren: Margaret Glanner and Jayde Langaas; his siblings: Mary Ronkowski, Grand Forks, ND; Helen Troyer, Monticello, MN and Adrian (Donna) Glanner, Green Bay, WI. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Leona, Margaret and Rosalie and brothers: Gene, Clarence and Dennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday for two hours prior to the service at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Minto, ND. Memorials are suggested to the North Dakota Veterans Home, 1600 Veterans Drive, Lisbon, ND 58054 or the Red River Valley Hospice Program.
