The Tollefson Funeral Home, formerly known as the Adams Funeral Home was established prior to 1894 and is one of the oldest funeral homes in the state. The founder of the funeral home was William W. Chandler, who was succeeded by R. C. Swandby, the director until 1945. It was during Mr. Swandby's ownership that the business was moved to it's current location at 154 W. 12 th St. in Grafton.

William C.Adams purchased the business in 1946 and operated it until 1968 when Warren and Janice Tollefson purchased the business. In 1970 they purchased the Jensen Funeral Home in Edinburg, ND and changed the name to the Tollefson Funeral Home. In 1973 they built the Tollefson Funeral Home in Park River, ND. Mr. Tollefson passed away on Sept. 5, 1975.

The business continued under the operation of Tom and Jan Nermyr until January of 1997 when it was purchased by Mike and Michelle Such of Grafton, ND. They continue to serve families in all three locations.
